1How to choose between QSFP28 SR4, LR4 and BiDi?
  • SR4 (850nm, MPO): short distance ≤ 100m over OM3/OM4 fibre — intra-rack and inter-rack in server rooms.
  • LR4 (1309nm, LC): long distance up to 10km over OS2 single-mode fibre — inter-building or DCI.
  • BiDi (1291/1311nm): a single fibre for both directions — saves cabling if fibre is already installed.
2What's the difference between DAC, AOC and transceiver + fibre cable?
  • DAC (direct copper): ≤ 5m, cheaper, zero power draw — ideal for intra-rack top-of-rack.
  • AOC (active fibre): up to 100m, lightweight, no separate SFP — long-reach inter-rack.
  • Transceiver + fibre cable: flexible, unlimited distances, individual hot-plug — permanent infrastructure.
3Are your modules compatible with my Cisco / Arista / Mellanox switch?

4Which fibre to use with a QSFP28 SR4 100G?
The QSFP28 SR4 uses OM3 or OM4 multimode fibre with an MPO/MTP 12-fibre connector. Max distance: 70m on OM3, 100m on OM4. For longer distances, choose the QSFP28 LR4 with OS2 single-mode fibre and LC Duplex connector.
5Can a QSFP28 be used in a QSFP+ slot?
Only if the switch supports "QSFP28 backward compatible" mode. In that case the port operates at 40G. Check your equipment datasheet — some Arista and Mellanox switches accept both, others require a firmware update.
6What is the warranty and delivery time?
