High-Precision Optical Fibre Cleaver

The cleaver determines the quality of the splice: a cleave angle out of tolerance drives up insertion loss whatever splicer you use. All our cleavers cut at a controlled angle on 250 µm and 900 µm fibre.

Answer 2 short questions — we show you the cleavers that match how often you work.

Step 1 How often do you cleave?
Step 2 Offcut collector? (optional)

What is a cleaver for?

Cleaving means cutting the bare fibre perfectly perpendicular. It is the step before splicing — and the one that sets its quality.

Prepare a fusion splice

Two flat, perpendicular end faces are the condition for a low-loss splice. A skewed cut cannot be recovered at the splicer.

Fit a mechanical connector

Crimp connectors and mechanical splices demand the same cleave quality: it is the physical contact between the two faces that makes the link.

Rework a damaged fibre

On a repair, re-cleaving the end cleanly is often quicker and more reliable than working around a damaged tip.

Work in 250 and 900 µm

Bare fibre out of a cable or 900 µm coated fibre from a patch cord: the fibre holders cover both diameters.

Why choose our cleavers?

Controlled cleave angle

Blades and guides machined for a repeatable perpendicular cut — that parameter, not the brand of splicer, is what caps insertion loss.

Multi-position blades

The 16-position models are rated for several tens of thousands of cleaves: you rotate the blade instead of replacing it.

Offcut collector

The versions with a collection box contain the glass fragments. In an occupied building that is not a comfort but a safety matter.

From repair work to production

From the entry-level cleaver to the professional model that cleaves in a single step, depending on how many fibres you handle a day.
